DAHLBERG, Erik Jönsson, Count (1625-1703). Suecia Antiqua et Hodierna. [Stockholm: ca. 1667-1716].
3 volumes, oblong 2° (309 x 388mm). Engraved titles to volumes II and III (lacking title to volume I) and 279 (of ca. 350) plates by Jean Marot, Jan van den Aveele and others, mainly after Dahlberg, many folding. (Lacking text and index, many plates trimmed and mounted.) Modern brown morocco, gilt spines.
Dahlberg, the Governor of Livonia, was commissioned by the Swedish government in 1661 to record the country's architectural treasures. His drawings were engraved by a team of 18 engravers. Originally published at the expense of the Crown for presentation, it was later produced in larger numbers for general sale. Berlin Kat. 2256; Brunet V.578; sold not subject to return. (3)
