Volumes I-III only (of 5) in one volume, bound from 20 original parts, 4° (282 x 226mm). Letterpress volume title to vol.I, 20 section titles to the parts. 111 engraved and aquatint plates (?only, of 117), 64 hand-coloured, one folding. (Some old light dampstaining, small neat repair to inner blank margin of one plate.) 19th-century half roan gilt, crowned arms stamped on upper covers (extremities scuffed, upper joint slightly split).
A fine series of plates, with the colouring executed in the best possible taste. The complete work contains 210 plates in five volumes. The Berlin Kat. copy contains 24 plates in vol.I and 44 plates in vol.II; the present copy has 25 in vol.I and 39 in vol.II. Cf. Berlin Kat. 3976.
