F. GOODWIN. Cottage Architecture; being a supplement to the first [second] series of Goodwin's Rural Architecture. London: printed for the author, published by John Weale (late Taylor's), 1835. 2 parts in one volume, 4° (322 x 246mm). 16 engraved plates (comprising 12 fine hand-coloured aquatints, 3 uncoloured aquatints, 1 uncoloured line engraving), all after Goodwin. (Occasional light marginal spotting or soiling.) Original red cloth, blocked in gilt and blind (neatly rebacked in morocco). Provenance: Jas. Bird (inscription, dated 1843).

FIRST EDITIONS. A good, generally unsophisticated set, with a few text leaves unopened. The first volume of the first work has plate 29 uncoloured; this is apparently coloured in the Abbey copy. The first work was re-issued in 1835, under the title "Rural Architecture" with the supplement, which was finished just before the author's death from 'apoplexy' at his home on the 20th August 1835.
