LANGLEY, Batty (1696-1751). Practical Geometry applied to the useful Arts of Building, Surveying, Gardening and Mensuration. London: for W. and J. Innys, 1726. 2° (350 x 225mm). Title in red and black, woodcut ornaments and initials, 40 folding or double-page plates. (Some leaves slightly dust-soiled, plate 12 torn and repaired with slight loss supplied in manuscript.) Contemporary panelled calf (scuffed, rebacked with modern calf, corners repaired), black lettering-piece. FIRST EDITION. Harris 465.

Engraved title (torn and repaired), 2 pages of printed text, and 64 engraved plates by the authors. (Browned in margins.) Contemporary mottled calf, double gilt fillet around covers, spine gilt in compartments (neatly repaired at head and foot), lettering-piece. Provenance: Robert Bristow (armorial bookplate).
