Ralph WILLETT (1719-1795). A Description of the Library at Merly in the county of Dorset. London: John Nichols for the author, 1785. 2° (562 x 435mm). Parallel titles and text in English and French. Engraved title vignette, 24 plates (5 double-page, 2 folding). (Some old creases, occasional light spotting.) Old marbled boards (rebacked and cornered in modern brown morocco (spine somewhat faded). Provenance: 2nd Marquess of Bute (Luton Library bookplate). The collection of Ralph Willett, including a number of fine block-books and Caxtons, was described in a privately issued catalogue (1790). It was eventually dispersed through auction in December 1813.
