Unbound series of views (300 x 450mm. and larger). 8 (of 10) etched and hand-coloured aquatint plates by John Martin (with the aquatint added by F.C.Lewis). (Surface soiling, plates cut down to within the plate area ?with loss of titles but not touching the image area or imprint, one plate with left-hand margin torn and repaired just touching the image.)

'SO RARE AS TO BE VIRTUALLY UNKNOWN, YET IT IS ONE OF THE MASTERPIECES OF AQUATINTING': (Ray). 'The complete set of ten plates was issued without accompanying text and was apparently issued privately... Only six complete sets, three of which are coloured, have ever been recorded - of these, only five can be located today. Two incomplete sets are known.' (Campbell). The present set lacks 'The Entrance door of East Front of Mansion House' and 'View of the Island Pool, in lower Thornery of Sezincot Mansion House'.
