The top with stencilled upper panel above three recessed compartments fronted by short columns, single long drawer and two lower drawers, the lower twin-doored cabinet concealing interior fitted with short drawers and compartments, the whole richly stencilled with blue and gold motifs, the sides and plinth stencilled in black with a formalised floral and geometric design, cast brass handles and hinges

Lot Essay

Compare with a cabinet of similar form but more sophisticated execution, attributed to Frank Furness for Daniel Pabst, illustrated: In Pursuit of Beauty, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 1987, p. 147.
The close grain of the pine and the nature of the stencilling also point to this piece being of American origin.
