A South Staffordshire small enamel snuff-box
circa 1765
Oblong, the cover painted with a scene from L'Après Diner, after an engraving by Larmessin after Lancret, with a lady and gentleman playing a game of tric-trac or backgammon in a garden setting, watched by two standing females, all reserved in raised yellow scrolls on a deep blue ground, the similarly coloured sides with two landscape vignettes, raised yellow flowers and dotted white ornament, with engraved gilt-metal mounts
