A George III silver cup and cover
maker's mark of Richard Sibley, London, 1813
Campana-shaped and on partly-fluted spreading foot chased with a band of acanthus leaves, the body with two leaf-capped bracket handles with satyr mask terminals, domed cover and detachable crest finial, the lower part of the body chased with acanthus foliage and berried husks, and applied beneath the everted rim with a band of trailing hops and apple branches, the body further applied with two military trophies and engraved above one with a coat-of-arms and above the other with a presentation inscription, marked on body, cover and finial

The inscription reads 'Presented by the FIELD OFFICERS, CAPTAINS and SUBALTERNS, of the first and second Batallions of North Herefordshire Militia to their Colonel SIR JOHN GEERS COTTERELL BART in Testimony of their high Respect and Esteem for him, 1813.
