A BRONZE KORO WITH HIKKEN (KOSEI) ON A STAND
Late 19th Century
The koro in the shape of a Chinese pot with feet, with two shaped panels depicting a figure with an axe and a fox in disguise in iroe takazogan and hirazogan, two handles formed as faces of demons, the lid surmounted with the figure of Hikken holding his brush and inkbox, details in silver and gilt, a small square stand with four feet formed as stylized elephant heads, with a further shaped stand decorated with cranes, with feet of stylized butterflies, details of the stands in iroe hirazogan, (slight wear)
