TWELVE IVORY AND FOUR WOOD NETSUKE, THREE OJIME AND A METAL SNUFF BOTTLE
18th and 19th Century
A kagamibuta netsuke with an ivory bowl and a metal disc with Kan'u and his horse, attached metal ring, 4.5cm. wide; an ivory hako netsuke of an oni fleeing at the sight of a dried fish head, signed Kaku (?)sai, 3.3cm. wide; two mask netsuke of Okame and an oni, unsigned, 4.5cm. and 4cm. long; a Ryusa style netsuke pierced and carved with stylised flowerheads and clouds, 4.2cm. diam.; another of a frog and a snake on lotus leaves, unsigned, 4cm. wide; another of a wind rattle, a scarecrow, a hoe and coiled ropes, unsigned, 4.5cm. wide; a shunga netsuke with Okame holding a fan and a mushroom, signed Kogyoku; a monkey seated on folded straw mats and leaves, (minor hairline cracks), unsigned, 18th Century, 4.3cm. wide; an oni on top of a convex disk, Okame mask inside the disc, unsigned, 3.6cm. wide; a mouse on a large daikon, with signature Masayoshi, 4.7cm. wide; a reclining sika deer turning and raising its head to the left, unsigned, 3.1cm. high; a wood mask netsuke of Hannya, signed Hiromitsu, 5.2cm. long; an octagonal wood manju type netsuke with a dragon among clouds, the reverse with characters fuku-roku-ju, (slight old chips), unsigned, 5.1cm. wide; a wood netsuke of a monkey seated and putting its arms together in front of it, unsigned, 4.3cm. high; another of a warrior in hunting clothes by a horse, a woman offering him food, signed Jugyoku, 3.2cm. high; a marine ivory ojime carved with Shoki's head and a pine, 2.5cm. long; two nut ojime, each of sennin, 3.5cm. long; and a silvered metal snuff bottle shaped as a rolled lotus leaf, 7.5cm. long (20)
