AN EXPORT LACQUER CHEST WITH DOMED COVER
Edo Period, 17th Century
The domed cover with a shaped roironuri ground panel decorated in gold hiramakie, takamakie and inlaid in mother-of-pearl with birds and flowers, the sides and front with variously shaped panels decorated in gold hiramakie with flowers and plants, the back with a roironuri ground lozenge panel on a nashiji ground, two rectangular drawers in front, bands of hanabishi pattern around the edge, engraved kanagu, (some old damage and restoration)
