The blade honzukuri, iorimune, with chu-gissaki, very slight sori, forging pattern mokume, tempered edge notare with nie, kaeri boshi, tang suriage, with two holes, 38,9cm.; encased in black lacquer saya carved lightly with a cloud pattern with shibuichi and copper kojiri forming waves and chidori, kurikata and copper kozuka with signature Joi, the cotton wrapped hilt with fine Yanagawa school shakudo nanako fuchi-kashira decorated with horses in iroe takazogan, gold Goto menuki of zodiac (junishi) and pierced iron tsuba, 19th Century
