The blade hirazukuri, iorimune with carving of ken on one side and gomabashi to the other, forging pattern itame and tempered edge midare of nie and ko-nie, kaeri-boshi, tang machiokuri with two holes, 23.2cm.; encased in roiro-nuri lacquer saya decorated with ginko leaves in gold togidashi and kimpun, with a scabbard ornament formed as a toad, furnished with silver aikuchi mounts en suite carved with waves, the kozuka carved in katakiribori with dragon, signed Irie Sadayoshi and Kao, tsuka lacquered resembling wood with a decoration of silver coiled snake, (minor wear), 19th Century
