A HIRAZUKURI TANTO WITH ROKKASEN CARVING WITH RED LACQUER EBI-KIZAMI ZAYA
Mei: Oshu Shirakawa ju Katayama Munetoshi saku and dated Ansei ..nen sangatsu kichijitsu, 19th Century
The blade hirazukuri, iorimune with fine carving of Rokkasen and poems on both sides, forging pattern tight itame, tempered edge toran of nie, kaeri-boshi, tang ubu with two holes, 23cm.; encased in a red lacquer ebi-kizami-saya fitted with large brass kanamono formed as part of a tori-kabuto, brass fittings en suite with a gilt tanto tsuba, signed Hyobe no suke Moritsuna, one circular menuki decorated with aoi mon and brass kozuka depicting gourd and dragonfly in takazogan, (slight wear), 19th Century
