Each with a central vase-shaped splat flanked by foliate-enriched C-scrolls above a padded drop-in seat covered in gros-point needlework of flowers and foliage on a brown ground, with a shaped apron and concave sides on cabriole legs with claw feet, one chair stamped 'V' and the other stamped 'III', one chair with two later angle brackets, one toprail repaired (2)

Lot Essay

A set of six Dutch walnut dining-chairs with similar concave-sided seat-rails was sold anonymously in these Rooms, 19 October 1972, lot 107.
