Further details
Note: These were produced by the Chief Administrative Office for the Baram District, C.B. Murray. When the area was taken over after the Japanese occupation, stamps were not available for the prepayment of mail. Murray, using pages from an old accounts book, typed out the above. He then applied the "Distrivct Office" Baram chop and initialled them in the centre. They were the cut up and applied to letters, costing 15 cents. The cancel is the reconstituted date stamp for Baram. When these arrived in Labuan, the Post Office removed them and affixed the correct stamps. Very few have survived and none on cover are known.
