An Italian dress sword, and a composite transitional small-sword
The first circa 1800, the second circa 1660, probably Dutch
The first with straight blade of flattened hexagonal section signed 'Claudio Francini' within the fuller on each side of the forte, bright steel cruciform hilt with baluster quillons each with acorn finial, and fluted flattened pommel, the flattened horn grip inlaid with engraved steel panels; the second with steel hilt chiselled with basketwork on the quillon block, quillon tips, and double shell-guard, the pommel 18th century, the grip bound with leather
