A 15-bore Balkan miquelet-lock gun
late 18th/early 19th Century, probably Albanian
With two-stage sighted barrel faceted for most of its length, the fluted breech and flared muzzle cut with lines, the former struck with a spurious proof mark and engraved in cyrillic 'A Mov Sulosy(?)', engraved tang, scroll engraved lock struck with a mark, the steel decorated with a double-headed eagle, wooden full stock of characteristic form entirely covered in iron and brass panels engraved with foliate scrolls against a stippled ground, seven brass barrel-bands each engraved en suite, slender curved fish-tail butt bound with plaited white-metal wire set with three nielloed silver plaques, sling loops, and original iron ramrod with engraved faceted tip (trigger-guard missing)
