Partly 17th century
With three-stage barrel chiselled in relief at the breech with mounted cavalrymen, a fortification, and a classical portrait bust within a laurel wreath, the forward part with applied panels chiselled en suite, Brescian mechanism of fine quality from a pistol with chiselled details and struck on the inside with the mark of Giovanni Antonio Gavaciolo (Neue Støckel 427), full stock inlaid with iron wire, darker wood, coral, horn and mother-of-pearl and with a carved ivory plaque on each side of the paddle-shaped butt, and iron mounts en suite with the barrel (ramrod missing)
