A Day's patent combined truncheon and percussion pistol
circa 1823
With brass turn-off cannon barrel decorated with bands of ornamental turning, and stamped with initials 'JR', brass action (hammer replaced) decorated en suite and fitted with a rectangular brass plaque on each side embossed 'Day's Patent', flush-fitting trigger, and hollow eagle's head pommel cast and chased in the round (screw-on cap replaced), Birmingham proof marks
