The first signed James Harper, circa 1850, the second by Allan & Thurber, Worcester, Mass., circa 1860
The first with five 120-bore barrels, scroll engraved action, and chequered walnut grips, Birmingham proof marks; the second with six 140-bore barrels stamped 'Cast Steel' and 'Patented 1837', scroll engraved frame, and ivory grips with later engraving (both with some pitting overall)
