With case-hardened turn-off barrels numbered 3 and 4, signed scroll engraved case-hardened box-lock action, engraved thumbpiece safety-catch, blued folding trigger, finely chequered figured walnut butt, vacant silver escutcheon, engraved silver butt-cap, and nearly all its original finish: in original lined and fitted figured mahogany case with accessories including original blued barrel key and Sykes flask, the lid with trade label of William Bishop, 170, New Bond St., Birmingham proof marks

Lot Essay

William Bishop, 'the Bishop of Bond Street' was the London agent for Westley Richards very soon after the New Bond St. shop was opened in 1815. He managed the shop for more than 50 years, and died in 1871
