Two 18-bore composite German flintlock holster pistols
Mid-18th century and late 17th century
The first with earlier two-stage barrel chiselled in high relief at the breech with grotesque masks and mounted horsemen, rounded lock chiselled in low relief with scrollwork and a halberdier, all on a punched ground, lightly carved walnut full stock, chiselled iron mounts including spurred pommel and pierced side-plate, and horn-tipped ramrod; the second with shortened barrel chiselled with scrollwork and a grotesque mask at the breech (worn), later silver-inlaid Turkish lock, lightly carved walnut full stock, chiselled iron trigger-guard, escutcheon, rear ramrod-pipe and spurred pommel with grotesque mask cap, and later side-plate (fore-end replaced, ramrod missing)
