A fine cased pair of 38-bore flintlock duelling pistols

With browned twist octagonal sighted barrels, each breech with gold line, gold-lined maker's stamp and gold-lined touch-hole, silver fore-sights, case-hardened tangs each engraved with a trophy of arms, signed and engraved detented case-hardened locks each with roller, gold-lined semi-rainproof pan, and large safety-catch also locking the steel (one cock replaced), figured walnut full stocks each carved in relief with a floral spray around the barrel tang, the butts cut with characteristic chequering, engraved blued iron mounts in the French manner, blued set triggers, horn fore-end caps, original ramrods, and nearly all their original finish: in lined and fitted mahogany case, probably original, with accessories including three-way flask covered in red leather (one compartment lid missing), the lid with trade label for circa 1825-46, and flush-fitting carrying handle
