Lot Essay

A drawing of the same subject, dated 1875, with the same figure, though of a more elongated format and with the bee-hives placed in a different position is in the Musée Provincial Félicien Rops, R.L. Delevoy et al., Félicien Rops, Brussels, 1985, illustrated, p. 125. The 1875 version was reproduced in heliogravure, M. Exsteens, L'Oeuvre gravé et lithographié de Félicien Rops, Paris, 1928, no. 940, illustrated.
