The earliest surviving example of antler furniture is an early 15th Century chandelier which remains in the Cathedral at Erfurt. The earliest furniture suite, on the other hand, can be traced back to a drawing of circa 1830 from the workshop of Josef Danhauser of Vienna, while in the Great Exhibition of 1851, this type of furniture already featured widely. The two firms believed to have produced the majority of antler furniture are H.F.C. Rampendahl of Hamburg and Friedrich Böhler of Frankfurt, although there was a number of smaler workshops throughout Germany and England, who catered to the contemporary taste for hunting subjects.
