The case with gilt-metal handle to inverted bell top, glazed gilt-wood beaded viewing apertures to the sides, similarly beaded front door with later pierced wood sound frets, the dial signed Joseph. White London on an arched silvered sector in the matted centre with mock pendulum and calendar apertures, silvered chapter ring with pierced blued hands, female mask-and-foliate spandrels, strike/silent ring in the arch, the massive six pillar triple fusee (wire lines) movement with verge escapement, quarter chiming on six bells with hour strike on further bell, the backplate profusely engraved with scrolling foliage with central female figure engraved in period dress flanked by two smaller figures blowing trumpets, pendulum holdfast, secured with steel bolts through the base into lower pillars
