The gilt dial intricately engraved with scrolling foliage and centered with a spray of flowers on an engine-turned ground, the chapter ring with black painted Roman chapters with pierced blued spade hands and signed Chas. Frodsham, 84 Strand, London 864, pendulum regulation sector above XII, the movement with five pillars and twin chain fusees, anchor escapement with large steel-rod pendulum spring suspended on the rise-and-fall bar above the plates, strike on a large blued steel gong on the backplate signed Charles Frodsham, Strand, London. 864, the case with large bevelled glass viewing aperture to the gadrooned stepped top surmounted by a foliate-cast and facetted gilt-brass handle, similarly glazed sides with repeat button, typical ogee-moulded base on gilt bun feet, original oak travelling case with baize-lined and padded interior
