The gilt-brass break-arch dial with large Roman and Arabic chapter ring with blued steel hands, the matted centre with mock pendulum and calendar apertures, the silvered signature disc engraved Tho: Cowley, London, foliate spandrels, the upper spandrels interrupted by subsidiary silvered rings for strike/silent and chime/not chime, the foliate engraved arch centered by a steel and blued steel rolling moon sphere set within a starry background and outer silvered chapter ring engraved with the moon's age, blued steel tune selection hand indicating against the silvered arc engraved with six tunes: Air Anglois/Menuet/Air Par/Mr.:Handel/Grigue Italiene/Air Alemand/Marche, the massive five pillar triple fusee [wire lines] movement with verge escapement, the music playing on ten bells via seventeen hammers with hour strike on further bell, the backplate profusely engraved with scrolling foliage and with pendulum holdfast and similarly engraved securing brackets, the case with five urn finials to the inverted bell top, handles to the glazed sides, brass-lined and reeded chamfered angles flanking the dial door, the moulded base on large brass bracket feet; purpose made brass-lined ebonized pedestal on similar bracket feet
