The white enamel chapter disc with Roman and Arabic inner chapter ring with intricately pierced and chased ormolu hour hand, similarly chased ormolu solar hand with sunburst counterbalance, blued steel mean time hand with star counterbalance, sweep centre seconds, the outer year calendar ring with blued steel pointer indicating to the months with their relevant sign and number of days, the outer edge with the equinox, summer and winter solstices, the bottom of the dial signed by the enameller Duprés, the weight-driven going train with pinwheel escapement mounted on the movement backplate with fine beat adjustment to the crutch to the gridiron pendulum with nine steel and brass rods of oval section and with fanned top, the two-train strike assembly housed within the pediment, the left quarter train chiming on two bells with trip repeat steel bar linkage to the going train and with quarter countwheel with lifting pin to an horizontal brass bar pivoted across to the hour train with large countwheel strike on a bell above, the case with detachable dentilled top, glazed sides and front door with egg-and-dart glazed ormolu dial bezel, the ebony-lined backboard concealing the falling weights, convex moulding to the the skirted plinth with ebony-lined raised rectangular panels, the front panel hinged with a pin-catch release system beneath the seatboard
