BODONI, Giambattista (1740-1813). Autograph letter signed to an unidentified friend, Parma, 28 February 1804, in Italian, saying that when Princess Galitzin was in Parma he did not intervene in the matter of the drawings ('affare dei disegni'); she had already concluded the contract with Giovanelli who is in a sorry state over the whole farrago of the wretched pictures. He sent a letter to her in Rome but she did not give the bearer, Giovanni Devossi, so much as a glance. He absolutely does not want to be involved, and is to meet Giovanelli, who has sent the drawings back, the next day. Northerners are mostly uncivilised and he is disillusioned by the treatment of Italians in their countries, one page, 4to (traces of guard in inner margin).
