A rare edition of Contarini's account of his voyage to Uzun Hasan, king of Persia. Contarini was a prominent Venetian merchant with commercial interests in Constantinople. He was named Venetian ambassador to Persia in 1473 and journeyed to the court to persuade Uzun Hasan to renew his military effort against the Turks in alliance with the Venetians. First published in 1487, Paolo Manuzio also published it in 1543 in a collection of similar embassies (Renouard, Alde p.128, no.8, and Brunet II, p.243).
