2° (487 x 316mm). PRINTED ON VELLUM (the engraved plates on paper). Engraved frontispiece, additional title and three plates by C.Guerin after B.Zix. Original red morocco gilt, covers with decorative border with crowned Napoleonic eagle at corners, with centrally-placed large crowned N, the flat-backed spine divided into nine compartments, blue-morocco lettering-piece in one, the others gilt, blue watered-silk doublures and liners, g.e. (small repair to leather of upper cover, extremities slightly scuffed), modern slipcase. Provenance: (?)Messrs. J. Pearson & Co. (sale: Sotheby's 11 Dec 1924 lot 964 £21 to Maggs Bros.); Hans Fürstenberg (1890-1982, book-label).

FINE COPY in a Napoleonic binding presumably for presentation to the emperor and apparently unique with the text PRINTED ON VELLUM. Napoleon is here feted just after the conclusion of the peace of Presburg on December 26th 1805. The emblematic frontispiece recalls the successes of his campaign against Austria (including the victories at Ulm and Austerlitz), the text and plates decribe the celebrations arranged by the city of Strassburg.
