lithograph, 1893, on Japan, a fine, fresh impression, the edges of the lithographic stone distinct, signed in pencil, with the artist's red monogram stamp (L. 1338), one of only five unnumbered impressions printed in black on this paper (there were also five unnumbered impressions printed in olive-green on various papers and a numbered edition of 100 printed in black on wove paper), published by E. Kleinmann, Paris, with margins, the remains of old tape at the reverse left sheet edge, in very good condition

Lot Essay

The lithograph represents Judic (Anne Damiens), the popular singer of patriotic songs, being fitted with a corset in her dressing room. Watching her at the left is Désiré Dihau, the artist's distant cousin who was both a composer of popular romance melodies and a writer of cabaret songs.
