Lot Essay

The attribution to Fux is based upon strong stylistic similarities with two signed works, a St. Sebastian in Munich, and a Virgin and Child group in the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg. All three pieces display the same precise carving, luxuriant drapery, and fine-featured yet expressive faces.
