A Roman pale green glass 'acorn' amphoriskos
Second half of 1st Century A.D., Eastern Mediterranean
Mould-blown, the body naturalistically modelled in the form of the seed and its acorn cup, a cylindrical neck emerging from the top with everted rim, twin thin vertical handles applied to the neck and shoulder, body and one handle cracked; and a 'Sidonian' aubergine glass amphora, the ovoid body with cylindrical neck and inward-folded rim, the body with moulded frieze of spiralling tendrils, tongues above and below, with applied greenish-white twin handles, Eastern Mediterranean, 1st Century A.D.
