A Roman gold and beryl intaglio ring

The heavy gold hoop swelling gently at the bezel which is inset with an oval intaglio showing Venus Victrix standing, armed, with back to the viewer, her drapery falling around her waist, her right elbow resting on a column, gazing at a crested helmet in her outstretched left hand, a shield upright at her feet and a spear behind

Reputedly found in the 1930's on a farm in Warwickshire and passed by descent to the present owner.
