A South Italian terracotta group of a Nereid riding on a Triton
Circa 2nd Century B.C.
The bearded Triton with right arm raised, the left arm in front, with naked upper torso, wearing an acanthus leaf skirt and with a curling fish tail, the Nereid riding on his back with her right arm raised and left extended, wearing sandals and a himation which is draped around her lower body and over her left shoulder leaving her upper body naked, on an integral rectangular base with waves of the sea indicated, rectangular vent at back, traces of colour
