A Roman marble sarcophagus with flying erotes
3rd Century A.D.
The front panel carved in deep relief with two winged nude erotes holding up an uncarved dedicatory roundel with two birds pecking at fruit underneath, flanked by two further erotes with garlands, the end panels each carved with a seated winged griffin, mainly complete but in fragmentary sections
52 in. (132 cm.) long; 12¾ in. (32.4 cm.) high; 14 in. (35.5 cm.) deep
