The full inscription incised within the rectangular space at the base of the jar reads: Da Qing Qianlong Nian zhi, Jian Fu Gong di er fen. The former part being the date, the latter half states that it was made for the Palace of Cultivating Happiness, the second set, or section, probably to indicate its position in the garniture for that palace.
