A GROUP OF ELEVEN BAMBOO BRUSH-POTS
17th - 19th centuries
Comprising a slender brush-pot of oval cross-section, finely carved with a water buffalo and a boy in a landscape with bamboo and pine, signed Wen Zong; a well-patinated cylindrical brush-pot, carved with a cicada on a willow branch, inscribed and signed Yu Shan; another, finely carved in low relief with a gnarled tree and rockwork; another, with figures in a landscape; a brush-pot carved with two rolling horses watched by a Central Asian figure; an unusual 'folded' example with a fisherman; a pair of cylindrical brush-pots carved in higher relief with figures on a spiralling path amongst rockwork and foliage; and three others with figures in riverscapes, some with minor damage
