An important Desk Set
marked Fabergé with Imperial warrant, Moscow, 1899-1908
Comprising an oblong inkwell and a pair of candelarbra, the oblong inkwell and combined pen tray with rounded ends on six paw feet, the sides applied with ribbon-tied laurel festoons with an acanthus border with two circular raised inkwells, the hinged covers chased and engraved with foliage and with swan finials, a pair of harpies supporting a laurel and berry wreath with acanthus scroll supports and lotus leaf finial centred behind the pen tray, each candelarbrum on four paw feet, the sides of the raised circular base applied with flower heads between acanthus gadrooned borders, the stem chased and engraved with stylised foliage on similar sreading foot, surmounted by acanthus scrolls supporting two demi-swans each holding in its beak a foliate socle, the whole with ribbon tied laurel and berry finial wreath, each piece marked on the base
