The sitters were the elder children of George Fermor, 2nd Earl of Pomfret, by his wife Anna Maria Drayton. The son George, styled Lord Leominster or Lempster until he succeeded his father in 1785, married Mary, daughter and heiress of Thomas Trollope Browne in 1793 but died without issue. Lady Charlotte married Peter Denys of Fremington, in 1787.
