The same fountain is found in reverse in a drawing by Bouchardon in the Louvre, J. Guiffrey and P. Marcel, Inventaire général des dessins du Musée du Louvre et du Musée de Versailles, Ecole Française, II, Bouchardon-Corneille, Paris, 1908, no. 810, illustrated. The present drawing, by an artist working in the circle of Fragonard and Robert, is possibly copied from a counterproof of the Louvre drawing.
