Lot Essay

Camille de Chantereine was one of Redouté's pupils. She exhibited at the Salon between 1827 and 1844 and received two awards. She contributed designs for Redouté's Cours de Fleurs du Jardin des Plantes published in 1837. Two of her watercolors are in the Tours Museum and another in the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, E. Hardoin-Fuger, The Pupils of Redouté, Wisbech, 1981, p. 39.
