Lot Essay

The first drawing is copied from a statue of Psyche and Cupid by Sergel dated 1773, R. Josephson, Sergels Fantasi, Stockholm, 1956, no. 302, illustrated.
Akerström studied in Stockholm with Sergel and Desprez, with whom he worked on the decorations of the opera Gustav Vasa, with a text written by Gustav III. In 1788 he was sent to Rome where he died.
