These paintings were probably executed during the latter stages of Bison's stay at Treviso from 1805-31 at a time when he was producing small pictures of landscapes largely as private decorations. Their combination of landscape and genre is based on the Venetian tradition which Bison learned at the Academy in Venice from 1777-89.
