The Firm of Edwards & Roberts was established in 1845 and by the 1890's they had expanded to a number of addresses in and around Wardour Street. They became known for their high quality reproductions of eighteenth century pieces and handled antiques as well. Most of the pieces that passed through their hands, antique or modern, were stamped or labelled (F.Collard, Regency Furniture, 1985, pp.252-258).
