Each serpentine crest above a pierced splat centered by a foliate clasp, the padded seat above an arcaded blind fret-carved seatrail, on straight chamfered fret-carved legs headed by pierced scrolling brackets, one upholstered in blue cotton damask, the remaining chairs unupholstered (6)

Lot Essay

These chairs appear to be part of a larger set. A set of three chairs of this model are in the Noel Terry collection (one is illustrated in The Noel Terry Collection of Furniture and Clocks, Fairfax House, 1987, no. 63, p. 63). Another single chair from the collection of Stephen Winkworth, Esq., Craven Hill Gardens, London, was sold Sotheby's London, 29 April 1933, lot 777.
